I am choosing my spiritual disciplines for next term, Colleen, and keeping my room neat is one of the contenders. Right now, it is a bit of a disaster, though it only takes fifteen minutes to put to rights.

Kristina--I have been working on a blog about the infamous composting project, and will publish it soon. It was a project in Quakerism class, and like most of the things I write that are any good at all, it came out of my head in a completish form at four a.m., and just needed minor editing subsequently.

Allison--I used to use the query, "Are you a human doing or a human being?" to ground myself. But Quakerism actually sped me up even more, and I started feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Christianity often emphasizes self-sacrifice, so I had to start reading up on Buddhism and Taoism in order to learn about self-love and purge this drowning feeling of never doing enough. In the West, doing sometimes is what causes damage, even if the doing is good. Sometimes the solution is being. Equanimity and knowing one's place in the world. Peace in the world via inner peace.

I don't know if that is useful to you, but it sure helps me.
